A dental emergency rarely waits for a convenient time to happen. Whether it’s sudden tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, or a lost filling, we know how disruptive and worrying these moments can be. If you’re searching for an emergency dentist near me, our team at Bellevue Hill Dental is here to help you get relief as quickly as we possibly can.

We’ve been part of the Eastern Suburbs community since 1950, and that means we understand what it feels like when pain strikes and you just need to see someone you trust. We hold same-day emergency appointments for patients in acute pain or with dental trauma, so give us a call and let’s sort it out together.

What Is Emergency Dentistry?

Emergency dentistry covers any dental issue that needs prompt attention to relieve pain, stop bleeding, or prevent further damage to your teeth or gums. This might include a sudden toothache, a chipped or broken tooth, a tooth that’s been knocked out, or a lost crown or filling.

For emergency dental services, our goal is to see you quickly, ease your pain, and put a plan in place to protect your long-term oral health.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

You may need an emergency appointment if you’re experiencing:

  • Sudden or severe toothache
  • A knocked-out or partially dislodged tooth
  • A cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
  • A lost crown, bridge, or filling
  • Swelling or infection in the mouth or face
  • Bleeding gums that won’t settle
  • A dental injury from sport or an accident

If you’re not sure whether your situation counts as an emergency, call us. We’re always happy to talk it through and help you decide on the best next step.

What To Expect

  1. Call us as early in the day as you can, ideally first thing in the morning, and describe what’s happened.
  2. Our team will ask a few questions to understand your pain and how urgent it is.
  3. We’ll do everything we can to fit you in that same day for treatment.
  4. If we can’t offer an appointment straight away, we’ll give you advice over the phone to help manage your symptoms until you can be seen.
  5. Once we’ve assessed you, we’ll walk you through your treatment options and what happens next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer 24-hour emergency dental care?

No, we don’t currently offer overnight or after-hours treatment. During business hours, we hold same-day appointments for patients in pain, and we’re always available for phone advice outside these times.

If you’re experiencing severe facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, please go straight to your nearest hospital emergency department.

We do everything we can to fit emergency patients in on the day they call, especially if you’re in pain or have experienced trauma. Calling as early as possible in the morning gives us the best chance of finding you a same-day appointment.

This depends on what treatment you need, so we can’t quote a fee over the phone. We’ll give you a clear, itemised estimate before any treatment begins. We’re a preferred provider for several major health funds, as well, to help you with the cost.

Call us, and we’ll talk you through some simple steps to manage your symptoms in the meantime, whether that’s pain relief, keeping a knocked-out tooth moist, or applying a cold compress to reduce swelling.
